Throughout the Festival
Squidsoup Ghosts explores text-based communication in the digital age. It
plays with the notion of “instant messaging” (mobile text messages,
emails and so on) and questions what happens when these messages are
given a new context and longer-term existence – a new, virtual, lease
of life. Discontinuum A Squidsoup project built on the NOVA 3D LED grid.
Stanza Robotica IV Control inside the Panopiticon Twelve robots – each named after prison inmate numbers – roam freely on a canvas on the floor of the casino in Enghien-Les-Bains. These robotic prisoners are sent out across the canvas, each with small tasks to complete. This robotic “wandering” is captured across the performance onto the canvas. They create their own painting in their own little prison. These UK will show in this extensive festival of digital art alongside international artists Stellarc, Peter Greenaway, Karine Saporta and others. Ghislaine Boddington of body>data>space will be presenting in the Round Table discussions and is part of the Jury for the International Competition. |
The SCREAM ‘Media Screens as a Medium for Communication' report by Bartlett, UCL, body>data>space and Art2Architecture (as part of Urban Buzz) looks at the development of Urban Screens and Media Walls. The report outlines a framework for the implementation of urban big screens in the public space and in particular explores the opportunities for artist and community content within these screens.
