Women Shift Digital first Catalyst event dedicated to WOMEN IN CREATIVE DIGITAL INNOVATION took place on Friday 21st November 2014  at the National Theatre.

This afternoon event brought together 50 invited participants, women and men, movers and shakers from the Arts & Culture, and Creative Industries, invited to share, expand ideas together  and to explore the following questions:

  • What does the word “creative” mean today in the digital context?
  • How many companies in the, so called, Creative Industries are fully aware of the processes of creativity at play in their work?
  • What is the connection of the experimental arts and creative cultural sector to the expansion of creativity in the digital realm?
  • Would a heightened recognition of the importance of creativity within digital innovation encourage more women and girls to work in the technology sector?

The event opened with provocations on “creativity in digital innovation” by Annette Mees (Coney),  Colin Hicks (Independent Consultant), Ruth Catlow (Furtherfield), Marketa Mach (Digital Business Consultant) Eva Pascoe (Cybersalon), Yuli Levtov (Reactify / body>data>spcae) followed by a series of roundtables, ideas pooling, shared feedback and a final reception to launch our new website www.womenshiftdigital.com

This first catalyst event and its outputs are leading towards the next conference in 2015.

We would like to thank to all our fantastic provocateurs, participants, team and partners who made this day very special.
