Film / Video Creative
Gemma Riggs is a London-based artist who works mostly in film, video and installation. Graduating from Wimbledon School of Art in 2002, she has gone on to apply her visual ideas within a wide range of contexts including theatre and performance, documentary and live visual performance.
Gemma’s use of repetition and rhythm play on our perceived sense of memory and experience and the fragmentation that occurs with time. Gemma has worked extensively within theatre and performance, developing a real passion for working with the ‘live’ and investigating how image technologies work with that. She enjoys using space and environment to explore immersive experience. Creating imagery that incorporates live-action, animation, scratched film, drawing and photography, she creates a rich and textured visual experience.
Since being selected to participate in E-Motional Bodies and Cities, of which body>data>space was a key organising partner, she has developed strong international collaborations with both dance and visual artists.
Gemma is currently completing an MA in Fine Art with University for the Creative Arts in Canterbury.
