We in Social Tech Accelerator Opens its Second Call

Published

We in Social Tech, the Accelerator for women-led tech businesses with a social purpose, has announced its second call for applicants to join their programme.

Applications are open and the closing date is 19th May 2019. The start date of this second cohort is 10th July 2019.

Only 7% of those in the UK tech industry are women and only 4% of VC investment in the tech sector goes to female founded companies.

We in Social Tech is making a change by supporting 60 ambitious businesses by 2020. The programme, delivered by enterprise agency Nwes and supported by Deutsche Bank through its social enterprise programme Made for Good, started accelerating its first 20 businesses in January 2019. Nwes believes that technological advances can be harnessed by businesses to make a positive social impact in communities through creating employment, increased productivity and through the services and products they provide.

The 20 businesses selected for the second cohort will gain access to personalised support to start, grow or scale, including mentoring, finance and investment readiness. Businesses must be at least 50% owned by women and geared towards social change. The accelerator is 100% free of charge, with no equity taken. A third cohort application will be advertised in the autumn 2019.
