Sound Work Recordings was initiated in 1995 as a recording project for the Sound Works Exchange, to release C.D.'s that documented each annual event. Since the release of the first two C.D.'s in 1995/6 it has progressed to being a recording project oin its own right and has started to release material independently, the first of these being Hafen - A Mail Art Project, a co-production between shinkansen and German sound artist's Klangkrieg.
Felix and Tim of Klangkrieg recorded a series of sound samples from around Hamburg harbour, these were then forwarded to the other artists from the Sound Works Exchange 1 to re-record, process and otherwise re-assemble and the result is Hafen, a very engaging experience. This recording was originially envisaged as a radio broadcast and we are very keen to hear from anyone working with radio who would be interested in broadcasting it, please contact us for further details.
All Sound Work Recordings are available from shinkansen or from:
