Connecting Communities by Ghislaine Boddington

Social Media Week is returning to London in September 2013 and, for the fourth consecutive year, is hosted by Chinwag.

Ghislaine will show topical examples of different types of representation of our physical selves and our identities in virtual environments and the hyper enhancement of our human senses through the digital transmission / reception of body data, such as touch, motion, biofeedback and gesture.

This presentation will explore the positive advantages of connecting groups of people at a distance for real-time events and activities using examples from education, performing arts, activity clubs and health / well-being sectors. We will look at the creative impetus behind this kind of work and the opportunities for growth in co-creation and intercultural understanding.

Come and immerse yourself for half an hour with this visionnaire particularly if you have an interest in interactive environments, experiential innovation, interauthorship, collective collaboration, tele-presence, motion capture and sense/gesture technology.

Monday 23rd September at SMWLDN HQ Covent Garden, London
